Auto Ordnance 250th Anniversary 1911: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

2026 marks a monumental year for the United States: It celebrates the 250th anniversary (or semiquincentennial, or bisesquicentennial, the sestercentennial, or the quarter millennium, depending on how you are feeling that day) of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

To mark the occasion, many manufacturers are unveiling limited editions. We’ve already seen a few do this, but the latest is Auto Ordnance’s 250th Anniversary Special Edition 1911.

FEATURES

The latest commemorative 1911 from Auto-Ordnance blends classic American symbolism with a refined take on the company’s proven .45 ACP platform. Created to celebrate America’s upcoming semiquincentennial, this special-edition pistol features a durable matte gray finish with copper-colored infill that highlights the patriotic slide engravings.

On the left, “250th ANNIVERSARY” and “2026” mark the milestone, while the right side displays “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” alongside the founding year “1776.” The visual theme continues with custom wood grips, each engraved with the Liberty Bell on one side and a bald eagle on the other, both surrounded by a field of stars.

Beyond its collector appeal, the pistol remains a functional shooter, equipped with TruGlo Combat Day Sights for fast target acquisition, and ships with a seven-round magazine. It’s a thoughtful blend of heritage styling and practical 1911 performance, built as much for display as it is for the range.

ZOOMING OUT

It makes sense to commemorate this anniversary with what is truly America’s pistol: the 1911. I don’t think Auto Ordnance went overboard with something gaudy. Instead, it focuses on the symbolism of America. Plus, for what you get, I don’t think it’s terribly priced. This is a limited production model, so get it while you can.
