9 Aftermarket Glock Triggers to Improve Your Shooting

— William LawsonCADRE Dispatch

Glock pistols are everywhere. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, no one can deny that Glock rules the semi-automatic handgun market.

However, Glock’s factory triggers have always been just okay — they work but tend to have a gritty take-up and a less-than-crisp break. Some folks don’t mind that, but the first thing many shooters do with a new Glock is replace the trigger.

A significant upside to Glock’s market dominance is that aftermarket accessories abound, including triggers. With so many companies making Glock triggers, we couldn’t possibly cover them all. In fact, many companies make multiple Glock triggers. To help get you started, we’re highlighting nine popular options that, even if they aren’t quite right for you, will likely point you in the right direction.

Here are nine choices, listed in alphabetical order.

Agency Arms Drop-In

Agency Arms offers a flat-faced, high-quality aluminum trigger that delivers much less take-up than the factory Glock trigger. The shorter take-up combines with a far cleaner break, making you a more consistent shooter.

This trigger is compatible with many Glock models, so make sure you order the correct one. Also, be aware that Agency Arms features a Gen 5-specific model. The company recommends that you have a gunsmith install their triggers, but that’s your call, based on your skill set.

Apex Action Trigger Enhancement

Despite the contention that Glock triggers aren’t so good, many shooters don’t dislike them. They may just want to lighten it up a bit. If that’s you, Apex Tactical has you covered.

The Apex Action Trigger Enhancement reduces pull weight by about 1 lb., reduces take-up and reset distances, and provides a smoother pull and crisper break. The center-mounted pivoting safety also maintains Glock factory safety values. The Apex Action trigger Enhancement fits different Glock models, but not all, so do your homework. It is not compatible with Gen 5 Glocks. This is among the most affordable options on this list.

Glock Performance Trigger

We move from a trigger that doesn’t fit Gen 5 Glocks, to one that only fits Gen 5 Glocks. The Glock Performance Trigger comes from the Austrian OG itself: Glock.

This new trigger provides a noticeably lighter trigger pull by changing the trigger from essentially a double action to a single action pull. The wider, more comfortable trigger is a clear upgrade, even if it is aimed primarily at competition shooters. Maybe that’s suitable for what you do and maybe it isn’t. One upside is that you won’t risk voiding your warranty since it’s a Glock factory part.

Johnny Glocks 4311 Drop-In Trigger System

We’ll take a slight detour here with the Johnny Glocks 4311, specifically designed for slimline Glock pistols. This trigger replicates the break and reset of a 1911 trigger, and we all (probably) know what that means.

Johnny Custom Glocks says the 4311 has a tactile wall for exact control, an instant break for pinpoint accuracy, and a short, aggressive reset. It features a 3.5 lb. pull. The 4311 has a completely different feel from the company’s popular Evolution X trigger, breaking further back, with a semi-rolling break, and a quicker reset.

Killer Innovations Glock Gen 1-4 Velocity Trigger Shoe

The Killer Innovations Velocity Trigger Shoe is a universal Gen 1-4 Glock accessory that is also compatible with certain Gen 5 models, which are noted on the Killer Innovations website.

The flat-faced trigger features aircraft-grade aluminum construction with a durable anodized finish. It does not include a trigger bar. Expect a smoother 5.5 pull with less take-up and a more positive reset. This trigger also maintains Glock safety parameters. Many color options are available if you like that.

Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger

The Overwatch Precision TAC is another flat-faced trigger compatible with Gen 1-5 Glocks and Glock clones. The construction is 7075-T6 aluminum allow and stainless steel. The TAC Trigger reduces take-up by as much as 20 percent, depending on frame tolerances.

The company says that the CTI NP3 plating “provides virtually impermeable corrosion resistance and smooth, grit-free operation.” The TAC trigger also has an optional OP Bar for an extra 0.10 striker to sear engagement for Glock clones whose tolerances may be a little different than the real thing.

TangoDown Vickers Carry Trigger

TangoDown partnered with Larry Vickers to create the Vickers Tactical Carry Trigger (VTCT). Like some others on this list, the VTCT is just the trigger shoe, but the goal was to keep it as Glock-like as possible while delivering outstanding carry performance. The flat-faced VTCT’s molded polymer matches your Glock frame exactly, with stainless steel pins. The pull weight remains at about 5.5 lbs., with reduced overtravel and a slightly faster reset.

This is a carry trigger, not a competition trigger. The VTCT works with all Gen 1-4 Glocks and select Gen 5 Glocks. It’s the most affordable product on this list, though TangoDown recommends installation by a certified Glock armorer or gunsmith.

Tyrant CNC I.T.T.S. Glock Trigger

The Tyrant CNC Improved Tyrant Trigger System (I.T.T.S.) is made from high-quality aerospace-grade aluminum. It features a “thinner-than-OEM” trigger blade that Tyrant says reduces finger fatigue during extended use. The I.T.T.S. Trigger reduces take-up by 15 percent and reset travel distance by 10 percent. Combined with the advanced 30 percent power spring, the I.T.T.S. Trigger allows for faster resets and quicker, more easily controlled shots.

The trigger is compatible with a wide range of Gen 3 and 4 Glock models. It’s also available in lots of colors if that’s your thing. Finally, the I.T.T.S. Trigger is quite affordable.

ZEV Technologies Fulcrum Ultimate Trigger

ZEV Technologies is among the industry’s leading aftermarket Glock companies. They have several Glock triggers available, but here’s a model I don’t often see in articles like this one. The Fulcrum Ultimate Trigger features a curved face with a wider trigger pad and safety for more comfortable shooting.

The Fulcrum Ultimate Trigger’s pull weight is adjustable down to 3 lbs. and features a shorter take-up and crisper break. The ZEV Trigger Bar is the only proprietary replacement trigger to deliver that performance while keeping all factory Glock safeties intact.

The Fulcrum is available for select Gen 1-4 Glocks but is incompatible with Gen 5 Glocks.

Upgrade Your Glock

Trigger pull is the most important factor in accurate shooting, and while Glock factory triggers aren’t awful, they aren’t the greatest either. Fortunately, Glock’s ubiquity means you have a wide range of accessory and aftermarket choices — including the trigger. You can go wild or mild, spending anywhere from hundreds of dollars to less than 50 bucks, depending on what you want. This list is nowhere near comprehensive, but we’ve tried to point you in the right direction with companies that make quality products. The choice is yours.
