Bodyguard 2.0 Viridian: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

It’s probably human nature, but when I see an idea come to life, I assume I had a part in it. That’s obviously false, especially when I never had contact with the people involved. Yet I chuckled when Smith & Wesson announced the Bodyguard 2.0 with a Viridian RFX1 already mounted out of the box. This setup has been my primary carry all summer.

It’s especially convenient now that Safariland just announced the Species IWB holster for the Bodyguard 2.0. I’m a big fan of the Bodyguard 2.0, especially with this optic. Let’s dive into it.

FEATURES

The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 with the Viridian RFX1 Green Dot Reflex Sight gives concealed carriers a factory-installed optics package without adding bulk or requiring aftermarket modifications.

Designed exclusively for the Bodyguard 2.0, the RFX1 mounts directly to the pistol and follows the slide’s serrations and contours, resulting in a clean, streamlined appearance. The result is a compact carry pistol that offers faster, more instinctive target acquisition right out of the box while preserving the slim profile that made the Bodyguard 2.0 popular.

Built for everyday carry, the RFX1 features a CNC-machined 6061 aluminum housing that is both shockproof and IPX4-rated for water resistance, all while weighing just 0.53 ounces. Its lightweight construction minimizes added mass without sacrificing durability, making it well suited for daily use.

Smith & Wesson also positions the package as a strong value, with a $599 MSRP that saves buyers up to $79 compared to buying the Bodyguard 2.0 pistol and the Viridian optic separately.

ZOOMING OUT

I can’t recommend this setup enough. If you don’t think .380 ACP is a worthy self-defense cartridge, then check out these articles by my colleague  James Maybrick and Jason Mosher. I think they’ll change your mind.
