Kyle Morgan’s story is one of service, bravery, and a relentless commitment to safeguarding others.
As a U.S. Army Special Operations veteran and founder of Blu Bearing Solutions, Kyle has made it his mission to share his expertise, help communities prepare for the unthinkable, and teach others how to protect themselves and their loved ones.
A Distinguished Career in Service
Kyle’s military career spans two decades, beginning as an infantryman in Iraq in 2003 and later becoming a Special Forces Green Beret. For over a decade, he served in the Army’s Special Missions Unit, specializing in hostage rescue.
In 2015, Kyle made headlines for his decisive leadership in the Radisson Blu hostage rescue in Mali, where he led efforts that saved more than 100 hostages, including 20 U.S. citizens.
Recognized for his extraordinary heroism, Kyle’s accolades include the Army Distinguished Service Cross, five Bronze Star Medals (one with Valor), and numerous other awards that reflect his commitment to duty and excellence.
A Protector’s Mindset
After retiring from active duty, Kyle sought to continue his mission by equipping others with the skills and mindset needed to respond to critical situations. He established Blu Bearing Solutions to provide practical, real-world training for law enforcement, military personnel, and civilians.
His philosophy centers around the Protector Mindset, a curriculum designed to instill confidence and preparedness in students, focusing particularly on protecting vulnerable populations like children.
In the wake of the 2022 Uvalde tragedy, Kyle demonstrated his dedication by traveling to Texas to offer free active shooter training to local law enforcement. He continues to collaborate with schools and community organizations, integrating active shooter drills with medical training and practical response strategies.

Blu Bearing Solutions is known for its innovative approach to training. In partnership with Unit Solutions, Kyle has introduced cutting-edge tools like advanced SIM rifles to provide students with realistic, safe CQB training environments.

Kyle’s instructional style is highly personalized — he takes time to assess each student’s performance and provides tailored guidance to ensure meaningful growth. Pushing them past their boundaries for performance and finding that next level of skill in the process.
Giving Back to the Community
Kyle’s commitment to community safety extends beyond the classroom. He collaborates with EMS teams to teach first aid and works tirelessly to empower schools and law enforcement agencies to respond effectively in emergencies. His efforts with BISD police, the first school district in the U.S. to implement his system, are a testament to the impact of his work.

Insights from Kyle Morgan: Experience, Philosophy, and Vision
In an interview for Safariland’s CADRE Dispatch, Kyle Morgan offered insights into his training philosophy, advice for beginners, and his vision for the future.
Q: Who got you involved in shooting, or where did your passion for teaching and shooting come from?
Morgan: Shooting was a necessity in the military, but for much of my early career, it was limited to qualifications. I didn’t develop a true passion for shooting until I joined a special missions unit that prioritized it. It became clear that I needed to embrace this skill to succeed.
About halfway through my military career, I realized the value of measurable, quantifiable progress in shooting — and that’s when I truly became passionate about it.
Q: What is your training philosophy, and how do you convey that to your students?
Morgan: It comes down to mindset versus hobby. If shooting is just a hobby, you’ll only improve as much as the time you put in. But when it becomes a mindset, practice is intentional and growth follows.
I emphasize that shooting is the most perishable skill you’ll learn — you can feel the difference after just a week without practice. Perfect practice isn’t just an ideal; it’s a necessity.
I teach with a focus on “preparing for the known and reacting to the unknown.” That means training for what we can anticipate and using intentionality to turn unknowns into actionable insights. Practical experience is vital — I don’t teach theory. If I’ve never done something in a real-world setting, I won’t teach it.
Q: What specific advice do you have for beginners?
Morgan: Start with dry fire practice — it’s invaluable. But don’t just hang a target on the wall; focus on transitions, weapon handling, and mag changes with intent.
Also, keep an open mind. Beginners often struggle with letting go of preconceived notions or advice they’ve read online. My favorite part of teaching is meeting people where they are and helping them process new information.
Q: What common challenges do beginners face?
Morgan: The biggest hurdle is often mental. Beginners need to get out of their own way — approach learning with humility and a willingness to adapt. The aptitude to process information and apply it is crucial.
Q: What is “We Own the Night,” and why is it significant?
Morgan: It’s a nod to one of the key tenets of CQB: speed, surprise, and violence of action. Surprise is critical, and training in low-light or no-light conditions builds confidence and capability. Many people don’t practice in the dark, but doing so can drastically improve their ability to operate regardless of the lighting conditions.
Q: What motivates you to keep teaching?
Morgan: It’s the people. I’ve met some of the most incredible Americans through this work. Teaching reminds me of the pride I have in this country and my faith in God’s plan. I see this platform as an opportunity to connect, sharpen one another, and inspire hope.
Q: What are your future goals for Blu Bearing Solutions?
Morgan: I want Blu Bearing Solutions to become the premier active shooter response training company in the country. While I can’t physically do this forever, I’m building the systems and assembling the right people to carry it forward.
