This is a new release that I don’t think anyone saw coming. FN America, one of the most well-established firearm manufacturers with a long and rich history of both firearms innovation and arming militaries around the world, has released an optic.
It’s not uncommon for a firearms manufacturer to release a line of optics. It’s happened in recent years with Sig Sauer and now Colt. But FN is doing something new and different. They’ve created the first holographic micro red dot for pistols—the FN PUREVIEW.
SPECS
This new pistol-mounted red dot sight uses advanced holographic technology powered by ImageGuide to improve aiming performance. But before going over the how, let’s look at the specs: Model(s):

FEATURES
The FN PUREVIEW is a pistol-mounted red dot sight built around advanced holographic technology powered by ImageGuide® to deliver a clearer, more precise aiming experience.
Instead of relying on traditional curved lenses, the system projects a dot that remains aligned with the shooter’s line of sight, reducing distortion and improving accuracy—especially in fast-moving or high-pressure scenarios.
The optic is notably lightweight and compact, weighing roughly 25% less than comparable enclosed sights. This helps preserve the pistol’s natural balance while still offering protection from debris and impact.
Constructed from aluminum and titanium, it’s built to withstand harsh environments, with waterproofing, fog resistance, and an operating range from -40°F to 126°F. Even with lens damage, the dot remains visible.
Features include automatic brightness adjustment with 14 settings, motion-sensing activation, tactile controls, and a top-loading battery. All are compatible with FN 509, FN 510, FN 545, and FN Five-seveN platforms.
ZOOMING OUT
This seems really cool and appears to be an innovative approach to micro red-dot sights for pistols. I wonder how it will work for someone with astigmatism (like me) compared with a traditional dot. Of course, innovation comes at a price: $750. Maybe as the tech is further developed, that price will come down a bit. Right now, it seems this dot will only work with FN pistols. Maybe that will change, and the industry will catch on, but that’s hard to say.
