Safariland CADRE Rich Graham has a well-deserved reputation for excellence as an instructor, his depth of expertise, and a unique approach to firearms training. His methods focus on developing well-rounded, strategic individuals who are both mentally and physically prepared for real-world situations. This personalized approach has made Rich a highly valued and respected part of the Safariland team.

Today, we’re introducing you to him because if you’re serious about improving your skills and mindset, Rich is someone you need to know — his training is something you don’t want to miss.

Rich Graham’s unique approach builds strength, smarts, and real-world readiness.

From SEAL to Instructor

Rich didn’t grow up with a gun in his hand. In fact, he had barely shot before joining the SEALs. But once he got to the teams, he immersed himself in learning everything he could about shooting and tactics. His expertise grew as he went through various SEAL schools, focusing on close-quarters defense, executive protection, and more.

After leaving the military due to a medical issue, Rich found his true calling — teaching. His first big gig? A dynamic pistol course for FBI agents, SWAT officers, and federal marshals. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive — officers praised his teaching style, noting how he made difficult concepts easy to grasp.

That experience opened the door to what would become a full-time career in firearms instruction. From that point on, Rich knew he was onto something.  What really makes him stand out is his ability to break down complicated techniques into simple, understandable steps.

Rhonda Stidham, Safariland’s Community Manager and leader of the CADRE and CORE programs shares her regard for Rich, “It’s been a privilege to work with Rich and share in his journey. Upon meeting him, I knew he was a unique person and a special kind of instructor.

“Rich has a drive to build better shooters and have a genuine impact on his students, giving them both tactical skills and the skills necessary to succeed in their life goals.’

Full Spectrum Warrior: Rich’s Training Philosophy

Rich Graham’s holistic approach isn’t just focused on shooting — he aims to build well-rounded, strategic thinkers who are physically, emotionally, and spiritually capable.

His training philosophy is grounded in real-world application. He knows that what works in a military context doesn’t always translate to civilian life or law enforcement, so he tailors his instruction to the specific needs of his students.

At the core of his teaching is the understanding that self-defense situations are often up close and personal, unlike the long-range engagements typical in military operations. He emphasizes the importance of strong fundamentals, not just with firearms but also in hand-to-hand combat, so students are prepared to defend themselves in any scenario.

That means physical fitness, mental toughness, and solid self-defense skills, whether it’s with a gun or hand-to-hand.

The Combat Conditioning Course allows students to test their ability to move in their gear while managing their weapons systems in a way that allows them to complete the obstacles.

But it doesn’t stop there. Rich  believes that to be an effective fighter, you need to be physically strong and mentally disciplined. This means taking care of your body, eating right, and living a healthy lifestyle.

For him, this is all part of what he calls the “Full Spectrum Warrior” lifestyle — a philosophy that extends beyond the shooting range and into every aspect of life.

As Rich puts it, “Discipline, attitude, goal setting, etc. The importance of all that is what will be the foundation that allows us to be a well-rounded warrior.”

Full Spectrum Warrior Training Facilities and Features

This commitment is clearly reflected in the Full Spectrum Warrior training facility, which is more than just a place to shoot. It’s a 106-acre ranch where you get to practice real-world scenarios. You’re not just standing on a static range; you’re out in the woods, moving through a dynamic environment.

The goal? To give you the skills you need to handle whatever life throws your way. Rich’s facility has it all.

Precision Rifle Range

Spanning 850 yards, this range includes multiple shooting positions overlooking a scenic 37-acre lake. It also offers opportunities for engaging hidden targets in the woodline, along with training in stalking and fieldcraft skills.

With an elevated heart-rate students will have the opportunity to test their marksmanship on our tower from 40 yards all the way out to 760 yards depending on which type of weapons system is being used.

Dynamic Pistol and Rifle Range

This 250-yard range is complemented by a vehicle ambush corridor and a 360-degree bowl for various tactical exercises. Behind this range, students can navigate through dense forest areas to practice team movement and communication drills.

In the 360 Dynamic Range, Rich demonstrates matching the height of cover to reduce exposure to the threat while maintaining better use of cover from the vehicle

Combat Conditioning Course

This military-style obstacle course integrates live-fire exercises, allowing participants to test their movement and gear management skills while engaging targets from 5 to 760 yards, depending on the weapon systems used.

Rich fishes shots on targets from 20-40 yards through the small holes on the V-TAC barrier after scaling his way up on top of the shipping container on the Combat Conditioning Course.

Shoot House

A newly added 5,000 square foot non-live fire shoot house is designed for home protection and team tactics training. Plans are underway to expand this to 8,000 square feet by adding a second floor.

Rich discusses the fundamentals of angles and movement within a structure for home protection with students in the shoot house.

Additional Amenities

The property features a functional fitness gym, an inground pool and cold plunge, and a student cabin that accommodates up to 12 people, providing a comfortable setting for small group training.

The facility is more than just a training facility; it’s a place where students can immerse themselves in a comprehensive learning experience. The setting allows for dynamic, real-world training scenarios that you won’t find at your local shooting range.

Why You Should Care

Rich isn’t just another instructor. His approach is different because he genuinely cares about making people stronger, smarter, and more prepared for the real world. Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a seasoned shooter, Rich Graham is a guy you’ll want to learn from.

For newcomers, Rich offers this advice: ” Don’t try to become really good before you get a coach. People will think that they have to get really fit or get in shape before they come train with me. Whether you train with me or with another coach, take the step. Don’t be embarrassed, it’s the coach’s job to meet you where you’re at and take you to the next step.”
