Springfield Armory has released two new 10-round 1911 DS Prodigy pistols: the 1911 DS Prodigy AOS Low Capacity and the 1911 DS Prodigy 4.25” AOS Low Capacity.
These models are designed for shooters in restrictive locales, enhancing the classic 1911 platform with modern performance features. Both models come with two 10-round magazines.
“The Prodigy has proven itself as a pistol that takes everything shooters love about the classic 1911 design and updates it with a host of modern performance enhancements,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “With these new 10-round versions, the popular Prodigy pistol is now available to shooting enthusiasts in restrictive locales.”

- Polymer Grip Module: The polymer grip module has the wraparound Adaptive Grip Texture treatment, made popular on the Hellcat pistols.
- Forged Steel Slide: The slide includes forward serrations and a rugged black Cerakote finish. It houses a match-grade bushingless forged stainless steel bull barrel.
- Optics Ready: Both the 5” and 4.25” models are optics-ready, utilizing the Agency Optic System (AOS) plates machined from billet 17-4 stainless steel. The AOS plates come fitted with a rear sight. They are designed to preserve visible iron sights for an intuitive sight picture and instant target acquisition.
- Ambidextrous Safety: The pistols include an ambidextrous thumb safety and an integrated Picatinny rail.
- Precision Trigger: The Prodigy employs a single-action trigger for clean pulls and crisp breaks.
- Match-Grade Barrels: Available in 4.25” and 5” lengths, the forged stainless steel barrels ensure precision and longevity.
- Ergonomic Design: The polymer grip module reduces weight and enhances ergonomics. The aggressive texture ensures a secure grip even in challenging conditions.
