Springfield Armory has launched a new variant of the Echelon pistol for states that restrict magazine capacity to 15 rounds.
At the time of this writing, that means Colorado, Illinois, and Vermont now have the option to carry five more rounds than they were able to with the 10-round magazine that satisfied legal requirements in more restrictive states.
The 15-round variant is available with either U-Dot tritium/luminescent sights or 3-Dot tritium sights, and it ships with two rugged 15-round steel magazines. The double-stack mags have numbered witness holes for quick visual round counts, and they have a blacked-out, scratch-resistant, and wear-resistant coating for durability.
Other features of the 15-round Echelon are similar to the original model. The controls are ambidextrous, an accessory rail allows for lights and lasers, the trigger guard is oversized for use with gloved hands, and the adaptive grip texture ensures a sure grip.

What Makes the Echelon Different?
The Springfield Echelon caused quite a stir when it launched in the summer of 2023, and that’s a difficult task in an already-crowded polymer 9mm handgun market.
With the Central Operating Group, grip and backstrap size options, and Variable Interface System, the thoroughly modular Echelon draws serious attention from all sectors of the handgun world — duty, concealed, and even competition.
“The Echelon was engineered from the ground up to be today’s most advanced striker-fired pistol,” says Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s Vice President of Marketing. “And now with this new 15-round version, it’s available to an even broader range of shooters.”
