THE COLT BOA RETURNS: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

The Colt Snake series of revolvers is among the most collectible and sought-after ever produced. Collectors themselves are fanatical in their pursuit, so much so that entire books have been written to aid identification and understanding of the history of these weapons.

The guns are so popular that Colt brought them back in 2020 with the release of the Colt Python. Since then, Colt has gone through the entire lineup, but there was one notable admission. One of the most desirable of the Snake Series: the Colt BOA

FEATURES

The Colt BOA returns for the first time since 1985, thanks to a collaboration between Custom & Collectable Firearms and Colt’s Manufacturing Company, reviving one of the rarest and most sought-after revolvers in Colt’s history.

Produced as a factory Colt firearm rather than a custom aftermarket build, the new BOA is offered in both 4-inch and 6-inch configurations and is aimed squarely at collectors and enthusiasts drawn to the revolver’s legacy and limited-production appeal.

Each revolver ships in a special-edition custom Colt presentation box created to commemorate the release, reinforcing the platform’s collectible status. Long regarded as one of the most elusive “snake guns,” the BOA’s return centers on both historical significance and modern production, giving collectors a rare opportunity to acquire a factory-produced example without turning to the secondary market.

With an MSRP of $1,999, the release positions itself as a premium, collector-focused revolver that blends rarity, heritage, and Colt branding into a modern reintroduction.

ZOOMING OUT

I’ve long been a fan of the Colt Snake series. One of my favorite firearms in my collection is a 1977 Colt Python. I think it’s awesome that Colt is reviving their classics for a new generation of collectors. The BOA is undoubtedly one of the coolest and, until now, one of the hardest to attain.
