The Staccato HD P4 Is Now California Compliant

CADRE Dispatch

If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a Staccato in California without going through hoops, here’s the good news: the HD P4 is now officially on the California Handgun Roster and available for sale. Same performance and reliability the HD line is known for — just now built to meet California’s legal requirements.

Getting on the roster isn’t easy. California requires a pistol to go through some pretty intense testing — think drop tests, firing protocols, and a few specific features. Per CADOJ requirements, the California-compliant P4 is equipped with a loaded chamber indicator and a modified magazine catch that is not reversible.  Staccato made those tweaks without messing with the core performance, so it still feels and shoots like a proper 2011.

So, What’s Different About the California Version?

To meet the state’s requirements, the CA-compliant P4 has a few changes:

  • Loaded chamber indicator
  • Modified, non-reversible magazine catch
  • DLC-coated bull barrel
  • Trijicon Tritium front night sight
  • Ships with three 10-round Glock-pattern mags
The Staccato HD P4 is ready for California’s trails, coastlines, and mountaintops.

What Stays the Same?

Pretty much everything that makes the HD P4 a solid performer:

  • Buffered flat wire recoil system that tames the slide and keeps things smooth
  • HOST optic mount, ready for your favorite red dot
  • Ambi controls, because lefties exist too
  • Active firing pin block
  • Steel frame and optimized grip profile

Staccato’s been supplying California LE for years, but this is the first time a civilian-legal HD model has been available to regular folks in the state. According to Staccato’s CMO Taylor Schweitzer, “Building a California compliant gun has been on the board for a long time… It’s long overdue.”

When and Where to Get It

The California model HD P4 drops May 29, and you can pick one up through staccato2011.com or one of their California dealers. MSRP starts at $2,699, and it comes in their Preferred Package setup.

Bottom line: if you’ve been waiting for a duty-grade 2011 that you can legally own in California, your wait’s over.
