When Smith & Wesson released the Bodyguard 2.0 two years ago, I wondered whether more would follow in that line. If you remember, the previous generation of Bodyguards consisted of a semi-automatic .380 and a .38 SPL revolver.
Well, there’s no need to wonder anymore. Smith & Wesson has announced the Bodyguard 38 2.0. Like the 380 version, this seems to be a massive upgrade over its predecessor.

FEATURES
The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 38 2.0 is a refined small-frame revolver designed for dependable, everyday personal protection in a compact package. Chambered in .38 S&W Special +P, this double-action only, 5-shot revolver pairs a 1.875″ stainless-steel barrel with a one-piece aluminum alloy upper frame, keeping weight down to just 14.2 ounces while maintaining durability.
Its dimensions—4.6 inches tall and 1.35 inches wide—make it easy to carry without sacrificing control, aided by a polymer boot-style grip that balances concealability with shootability. Operation is intuitive thanks to an ambidextrous, center-mounted cylinder release. The sight system combines a machined U-notch rear sight with an orange partridge-style front sight for faster target acquisition in varied lighting conditions.
For added capability, the revolver is available with an integrated Crimson Trace red laser, rounding out a purpose-built platform that stays simple, functional, and ready when needed.
ZOOMING OUT
The new Bodyguard 38 2.0 retains what made its predecessor good while improving on the base with better grip, sights, and controls. For those who want to carry a revolver but prefer a little better ergonomics, check this one out.
